"Femme" is my original polyglot musical in French, Arabic and English. At the time of production, I felt a strong desire to bring the culture of America, France and Algeria closer together through the phenomenal talent of Algeria's Fella Oudane. I have since tapered my zeal for finding common ground, as the cultures, themselves, are not compatible and need to find some sort of balance in the world, some sort of respect for one another's boundaries, before I attempt this again. Yet within a surreal atmosphere of mythology and modern dance, to bring Arab-American unity to the stage, especially in the current political climate, was a lofty ideal, and I am proud of what I did achieve. I was Creative Director, Web Designer, promoter, Maker Of Posters, runner of the press desk and social media campaigns, and I am the mysterious Le Cardiologue in the play. There will be no more performances of "Femme: Mon Coeur Pour Toi" but there may be a VR experience coming to the Oculus Quest 2 and I will release the soundtrack at some point. The songs remain beautiful. Vivre la femme. "Femme: Mon Coeur Pour Toi” tells the story of how a middle-aged Algerian Rai singer overcame her husband's desertion by rediscovering her gift and talent as a singer and percussionist. Live performances accompany high-energy doumbek performances, dancing and projected video images.
